One great way to explore and develop skills like: forethought, pre-planning, organizing, discovery, the creative process, creative problem solving, using one’s hands to construct and destruct objects carefully, patience, and acceptance is to build with LEGOs. LEGOs offer children time to play, develop worlds all their own in which they act out scenarios with characters they create. Not only are LEGOs wonderful toys, they are also an incredible learning device that is invaluable to STEAM. LEGOs can be used to create sculptures (both static and kinetic) and they can be used to construct support for additional tools and conceptual projects that might otherwise be built with a different material.
